Hi Everyone!

I wanted to let you all know that Marissa is taking a 2 transfer/12 week hiatus from her mission. She will be returning to the field at the beginning of November and stay until November of 2020. She will be officially released while she is here, but will be studying and keeping up her mission habits.

We talked to Marissa’s mission president and he spoke very highly of her and the work she had been doing. She doesn’t have any medical emergencies, she just has to take time to work through some things. We are so happy to have her here for a few months, giving her all our love and support!

The Beach and the Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon read!!!

Reading the Book of Mormon has been an amazing experience...I have yet to finish, but I have loved reading it so far. As I read the Book, I find my self imagining what their lives were like, how they turned to God in those times that were hard, and how we can learn from their experiences when they turned away from God.

Reading the Book in this way has helped me see the story as well as the bigger picture. These records were passed from father to son brother to brother for hundreds of years for a purpose. That purpose is for the Book of Mormon to be available to us today. We need the doctrine held in its pages. We need the experiences of these ancient people. I love the Book of Mormon, and my testimony of it has grown a lot this week! I am excited to continually study it, share it, and gain a deeper testimony of it.

We had an amazing week full of miracles!! We started teaching three new people this week!

We had a third companion this week for a few days. Her name is Sister Sellers! It was so fun having her with us! She is from Aurora!

One day during the Book of Mormon read, Sister Turner and I went and read by the beach with our district and it was so fun!! The Elders bought hammocks at Walmart and set them up by the ocean, and they let us borrow them for a few hours!

Book of Mormon Read

Hi Y'all.

This week was great! We had some incredible experiences!

We met this adorable family from Egypt. The mom was home with their kids and we knocked on their door! They moved here about 5 years ago and are both Christian but of different denominations. She let us in and we taught her the Restoration and about the Book of Mormon. She loved it and had her kids kiss the Book saying "Be gentle it's a bible. Be nice to it." It was so tender!

We also started teaching a new friend named Betty this week. She is a cute YSA girl the Elders found contacting by the beach! She grew up in the foster system and found religion along the way from a family she lived with.  She now is an inspirational speaker for kids in foster care. We taught her the Restoration yesterday and gave her a church tour. She loved the idea that God continues the way he always has. She asked for a Book of Mormon and we are teaching her now! She is amazing.

We start the Book of Mormon read tomorrow!! I'm so pumped! Its pretty cool! IWe will be reading the Book of Mormon every day from 9am to 4pm. The goal is to read the whole Book of Mormon before Sunday night. President Nakken shared with us how powerful it will be to read the book straight through. It is going to help us teach more from the scriptures so much!

I love my mission and this work! Miss everyone lots! Have a great week! If anyone wants to join me in the Book of Mormon read, I will attach a picture of the schedule!
